I officially started knitting my NaKniSweMo sweater on November 1 and I feel like I'm making good progress! I have two more raglan repeats before I separate for the sleeves, and I'm almost done with the first yarn cake (of seven). I love how it's knitting up. Slate is the perfect charcoal gray: it has enough blue not to make it dingy, but it's still very gray.
The construction was different than other sweaters I've made. First, I had to do a provisional cast-on, which I've never done. I actually don't own a crochet hook, so I had to use the hook from my Stitch Fix kit, which is about three inches long and meant for picking up dropped stitches. Also, the collar is knit in one piece like a long scarf, and then stitches are picked up. I'm glad to say it was pretty painless and nothing required too much thought.
I'm still a little worried about getting this done in one month, but I've finished a few projects and have been able to make this my evening knitting project. I think that will help!
